COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU men's volleyball's incoming freshman Ben Patch has been selected to the USA Men's Volleyball Junior National Training Team.

Patch is one of 19 training team players working toward qualifying for a 12-player roster that will compete at the NORCECA Men's Under-21 Continental Championship on Aug. 27 - Sept. 1 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

"This group of 19 athletes who will be vying for 12 roster spots is both athletic and very experienced, with many of them having participated in last summer's Youth World Championship," said Pete Hanson, head coach for the squad. "We are hoping that those experiences will be a springboard for a great summer of training and competition at the NORCECA tournament."

The top two teams from that NORCECA (North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) Championship will qualify for the 2013 FIVB Men's Junior World Championship.

Patch was also a member of the 2011 U.S. Youth National Team that finished third at the Boys' (Under 19) Pan American Cup and 11th at the FIVB Boys' Youth World Championship.
