PROVO - The BYU men's volleyball team earned itself a 3-seed in the upcoming MPSF Tournament and will host 6-seed Long Beach State this Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. MT in the Fieldhouse. The match will be broadcast live on BYUtv and online for free at byutvsports.com/gameday.

After a three-way tiebreaker, BYU's 17-5 league record put them at third in the conference standings and afforded them the opportunity to host a first-round match in the conference tournament.

Fans can purchase tickets for Saturday's match online through byutickets.com.

The Cougars are riding a 23-6 overall record after winning out last weekend’s home matches against Penn State. Taylor Sander leads the Cougar offense on 386 kills with four other players recording 100+ kills and six more recording double-digit kills. Robb Stowell, Josue Rivera, Russ Lavaja and Futi Tavana have totaled 364, 244, 172 and 158 kills, respectively.

Lavaja leads the team with 157 blocks and is third all-time in BYU history for total blocks. Tavana’s season total 124 blocks is second most on the team.

Tavana is the all-time blocks leader & block assist leader in BYU’s rally scoring era and is just three away from becoming the solo blocks leader. Joe Kauliakamoa leads the squad with 1,070 assists.

The Cougars are averaging 3.2 blocks per set to lead the nation.

For the 49ers, it’s Taylor Crabb’s 291 kills that lead the team on a 2.77 per set average. There are four other players with 100+ kills and 6 more with double-digit kills. Jeff Ornee leads the squad with 106 total blocks.

Long Beach comes to Provo having won two of its last four outings.
