Comeback Wins Road Match For Cougars
MALIBU, Calif. -- After losing set one, the second-ranked BYU men's volleyball team came back to win the next three and defeat (18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18) the thirteenth-ranked Pepperdine Waves, Friday, on the road.
Freshman Taylor Sander led all players with 20 kills on the night and a .567 attacking percentage while adding three service aces, nine digs and four blocks. Also in double-digit kills was Robb Stowell with 14.
The Cougars (19-7, 14-6) dropped set one 18-25 after Pepperdine's strong start that BYU was never able to overcome.
The next three sets, however, belonged to the visiting team as the Cougars finished in 25-21, 25-19 and 25-18 set scores.
Pepperdine's Cory Riecks, Chase Ross and Maurice Torres all recorded double-figure kills for the Waves with 11, 11 and 13, respectively.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow at 7 p.m. on the same court.
