Road Loss, Again In Five
LOS ANGELES -- The No. 2 BYU men's volleyball sunk its second match against No. 1 USC in another five set thriller (18-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22, 10-15) on Saturday.
Robb Stowell, Taylor Sander and Futi Tavana finished the game in double-figure kills with 22, 17 and 11 respectively. Stowell also added 10 digs for his second double-double of the season.
In his first back-to-back start of the season for the Cougars, setter Ryan Boyce tallied 10 assists on Saturday for a weekend total of 76. Boyce recorded a career-and team-high 66 assists in Friday's match.
Joe Kauliakamoa added 45 assists and four kills on Saturday against USC.
Similar to yesterday's scores, the Cougars and Trojans took turns winning sets before USC took the fifth. The Trojans captured sets one, three and five with the Cougars taking two and a match-extending fourth.
The Cougars hit just .218 compared to USC's .345 on the night.
Again on the road, BYU will travel to Cal State Northridge for two matches next weekend on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19.
