Stowell Named Player of the Week

PROVO -- The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced junior BYU men's volleyball player Robb Stowell as this week's Player of the Week, Monday.

Stowell helped lead the Cougars (9-2, 6-2) to wins Friday and Saturday in the Smith Fieldhouse over the fifth-ranked UCLA Bruins for their second-straight weekend sweep. BYU won Friday by a 3-1 count and swept the Bruins on Saturday in front of a season-high crowd.

The San Juan Capistrano, Calif., native totaled 37 kills in seven sets (5.29 K/S) while hitting .492 on the weekend. Stowell’s kills led all players in both matches. The wins give BYU six straight victories.

The second-ranked Cougars will play two weekend games in Chicago, Illinois, against Loyola on Friday and Lewis on Saturday. Both games are schedule to begin at 7 p.m. CT.
