Olympic Gold Medalists to Conduct Volleyball Clinic at BYU
PROVO -- In conjunction with the 2009 NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship, BYU will host a volleyball clinic on Saturday, May 9 at noon (MT). The free clinic will be held on the main court in the BYU Smith Fieldhouse and will feature Beijing Olympic Gold Medalists Ryan Millar and Rich Lambourne.
In addition to basic volleyball instruction, Millar and Lambourne will share experiences from their time at BYU and with Team USA.
“We appreciate Ryan and Rich sharing their time and talents with the local volleyball community,” said BYU Senior Associate Athletic Director Brian Santiago. “We are proud of the volleyball tradition at BYU and are excited to have former players and coaches from the 2008 USA Gold Medal Team join us this week at the NCAA Championship.”
Following the clinic, Volley Village — an interactive carnival — will open at 2 p.m., in the Smith Fieldhouse Annex. Volley Village is free to the public and features live entertainment, food, prize giveaways, interactive booths and official NCAA Championship merchandise.
The national championship match will begin at 5 p.m. MT (7 p.m. ET) and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and simulcast on ESPN360.com.
Tickets for the championship match are available at the Marriott Center Ticket Office at (801) 422-BYU1 or at BYUtickets.com.
