Eighth-Ranked Cougars Fall at No. 14 Pacific

STOCKTON -- After winning the first two games of the match on Tuesday, the eighth-ranked BYU men's volleyball team stumbled to drop three straight games against No. 14 Pacific, 15-13, 15-12, 13-15, 13-15, 11-15.

The match marked the Cougars' (3-1) first loss of the season, while the Tigers improved to 3-3. Tuesday's loss also marks the first for BYU since falling to Long Beach State in five games on March 19, 1997 and the first loss to Pacific since Feb. 17, 1996.

The Tigers' Vladimir Andric recorded a match-high 36 kills against the Cougars, while teammate Dan Hoefer added 30 kils. Senior Casey Jennings recorded his first double-double of the season, chalking up a team-leading 26 kills and 15 digs for the Cougars. BYU kills leader Joaquin Acosta added 15 kills to his total. Scott Bunker recorded double digits in blocks for the third straight match.

The Cougars will head to Palo Alto, Calif. on Wednesday, taking on 12th-ranked Stanford at 8 p.m. (MST). Following Wednesday's match, BYU will travel to Hawai'i to take on the 7th-ranked Rainbows in Honolulu on Friday.
