Taylor named to 2023 CSC Academic All-District Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sophomore middle blocker Teon Taylor received College Sports Communications (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and compete as a starter or significant reserve in at least half of their team’s tournaments during the 2023 season.
A biology major, Taylor holds a 3.51 GPA after concluding his third academic year at BYU.
In the 2023 regular season, Taylor led the nation in blocks, with 135 total blocks. He had a career-high of 14 solo blocks as well as 121 block assists. Taylor also held the 2023 NCAA season single-match high for most blocks in a match with 13 against UC Irvine in January. He was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week three times this year.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Those who are selected for first, second and third-team honorees will be announced on Wednesday, June 21.
