Taylor named MPSF Defensive Player of the Week
PROVO, Utah — BYU men's volleyball sophomore Teon Taylor was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, announced Monday evening.
Taylor led the Cougars in blocks with 15 through the two-match series win over No. 15 Ohio State. Taylor, the MPSF blocking leader on the year, averaged 1.67 blocks per set while playing in all nine of BYU's sets last week. He led all players with eight blocks in the second win, more than half of Ohio State's total team blocks on Saturday.
Taylor finished with 8 kills, 15 total blocks and 16.5 points after the two-match non-conference series against OSU.
This is BYU's second MPSF weekly honor of the 2023 season, with both wins by Taylor.
