No. 8 BYU travels to Arizona for top-10 matchup at No. 2 GCU
PROVO, Utah — No. 8 BYU men’s volleyball travels to face No. 5 Grand Canyon University on Friday and Saturday at the GCU Arena.
Most recently, the Cougars hosted GCU in the Smith Fieldhouse in 2022, losing both games 3-1 and 3-2. The Lopes have been ranked No. 5 for four consecutive weeks, their highest poll ranking ever.
After two road wins against CUI, BYU held its spot at No. 8 in this week’s AVCA coaches poll. This is BYU’s seventh week in a row on the rankings, and its third week at number eight. Last season, the Cougars highest ranking at any point was eight.
BYU has a 9-4 overall record against GCU, with the first matchup between the two programs happening on November 13, 2010 in Arizona.
Last week, BYU’s senior libero Mitchel Worthington reached a milestone of 500 career digs. He is currently in seventh place on the all-time dig list for BYU with 506 digs. The next closest is former Cougar Taylor Sander who had 586 career digs.
