Men's Volleyball at Concordia Irvine and USC this week

PROVO, Utah. — No. 2 men’s volleyball will travel to California this week to take on Concordia Irvine Mar. 4 at 7:00 pm PST and USC Mar. 5 at 5:00 pm PST. 

BYU Cougars (6-2, 6-2 MPSF)

  • BYU was voted the No. 2 team in this week’s NVA/AVCA coaches poll
  • Setter Wil Stanley, ranks No. 5 nationally in assists per set with 10.27
  • Middle blocker Felipe de Brito Ferreira is in the top three of two categories in the MPSF, blocks per set (1.04) and hitting percentage (.390)
  • BYU currently leads the MPSF in aces (1.69) per set and hitting percentage (.310)

  • BYU 4-2 CUI
  • BYU 42-14 USC

Concordia Irvine (1-4, 1-4 MPSF) 

  • The Eagles beat No. 9 UCLA Feb. 27 for the first time in program history 
  • Middle blocker Gil Herold leads the MPSF in hitting percentage (.468)
  • CUI will take on UCLA for a final time Mar. 2 before hosting BYU Mar. 4

USC (1-4, 1-4 MPSF)

  • USC is 1-4 overall with losses to UCLA and Pepperdine and a road win at UCLA
  • Libero Cole Paxson leads the MPSF in digs per set with 2.56
  • The Trojans will host BYU Mar. 4 and Concordia Irvine Mar. 6
