BYU Ranked No. 1 in NVA/AVCA Preseason Poll
PROVO, Utah – BYU Men’s Volleyball has been named the No. 1 team in the country in the 2021 NVA/AVCA Division I/II Preseason Poll announced Monday.
BYU tallied 238 points, including 14 first-place votes, to capture the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the Top 5 are Hawaii (228), UC Santa Barbara (200), Long Beach State (191) and Lewis (187).
The Cougars finished with the No. 1 national ranking and a 17-1 overall record before the 2020 season was ended prematurely due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. In the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, BYU finished at the top of the league standings with a 6-0 record.
BYU will be returning its entire starting lineup including National Player of the Year Gabi Garcia Fernandez, and All-Americans Zach Eschenberg, Davide Gardini, and Wil Stanley.
Fellow MPSF members also ranked in the AVCA Preseason Poll include Pepperdine (7), UCLA (9), Grand Canyon (10), Concordia Irvine (12), and Stanford (15).
