PROVO, Utah – The AVCA ranked BYU men’s volleyball No. 2 in the nation when it announced its most recent NCAA Division I-II Men’s Coaches Poll on Monday.

The Cougars moved up one spot from No. 3 after starting the season 4-0 while beating No. 6 Lewis, No. 11 Loyola Chicago and sweeping No. 15 Penn State on back-to-back nights. Since head coach Shawn Olmstead took over the program in 2016, BYU has now been ranked fifth or better 53 times, including 41 weeks rated in the top-3.

BYU collected 216 points in the coaches poll and jumped conference foe UCLA. Hawaii remained atop the rankings with 239 points and 15 first-place votes. The Bruins dropped one spot to round out the top three while earning 200 points and one first-place vote.

The Cougars will look to improve on their perfect record with a pair of matches against Mount Olive on Jan. 17-18 in Mt. Olive, North Carolina.
