PROVO, Utah – Sophomore middle blocker Miki Jauhiainen has been named the MPSF/Molten Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Jauhiainen helped lead BYU men’s volleyball on the defensive end to pick up its first win of the 2018 season.

Against No. 13 Loyola-Chicago he picked up six blocks – double the amount of any other Cougar. He also added four digs.

Then, in the win against Lewis, Jauhiainen put up six more blocks, one solo and five assisted, to lead all players in the match. He also contributed four kills on a .429 clip and an ace in the victory.

This is the first conference honor of Jauhiainen's career and first for BYU this season.
