PROVO, Utah – No. 3 BYU men’s volleyball returns home this week to begin postseason play, hosting No. 9 Stanford in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament.

The Cougars (23-3, 16-2 MPSF) split the MPSF regular-season title with Long Beach State but are the No. 2 seed in the tournament due to the tiebreaker scenario. The Cardinal (13-12, 8-10 MPSF) are the No. 7 seed. Should BYU advance, it would play either No. 3 Hawai’i or No. 6 Pepperdine next Thursday, April 20, in Long Beach. However, if the 49ers fail to win in the quarterfinals, the Cougars would host the remaining rounds.

No. 9 Stanford

  • BYU will play Stanford Saturday, April 15, at 7 p.m. MDT.
  • The Cougars lead the overall series history 33-21 and are 16-7 against the Cardinal when playing in Provo.
  • BYU won the two matchups earlier this year at Stanford, first in three sets and then in four.
  • The Cardinal are just 2-3 in their last five matches, most recently falling at UC Irvine last week before picking up a road win at UC San Diego.

The match will be televised on BYUtv and simulcast on BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143. FloSports will also be live streaming the match on their FloVolleyball site. Live stats will also be available on the BYU men’s volleyball schedule page.
