No. 1 BYU hosts No. 14 UC Irvine in MPSF Quarterfinals
PROVO, Utah – No. 1 BYU men’s volleyball stays at home this week, hosting No. 14 UC Irvine in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament.

The Cougars (23-3, 19-3 MPSF) won the outright regular-season conference title with a pair of sweeps against USC. Setter Leo Durkin helped the team to a .556 hitting percentage (third-highest in BYU rally-scoring era history) the first night followed by a .441 team clip the next night.
UC Irvine
- No. 1 seed BYU faces No. 8 seed UC Irvine (10-19, 7-15 MPSF) Saturday, April 16, at 7 p.m. MDT.
- BYU leads the overall series history 45-16 and is 22-6 when playing the Anteaters at home. The two teams met earlier this year in Irvine where the Cougars picked up two sweeps.
- The Anteaters split a pair of home matches last week, collecting a sweep over 10th-ranked CSUN before falling in five to Long Beach State. They are 3-6 in their last nine matches overall.
- UC Irvine collected the final conference tournament seed after owning the tiebreaker with CSUN (also 7-15 in league play).
