No. 1 BYU hosts No. 11 Stanford to begin conference play

PROVO, Utah – No. 1 BYU men’s volleyball begins Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play this week as it hosts No. 11 Stanford Friday and Saturday.

Last Time Out

The Cougars picked up a pair of four-set wins over No. 3 Loyola-Chicago, the defending back-to-back national champions, and No. 14 George Mason. Ben Patch led the way in the first match with 21 kills while Tim Dobbert picked up 13 kills, eight digs and eight blocks the following night.

No. 11 Stanford

  • The Cardinal traveled to Indiana last week, picking up road wins over No. 14 Ball State and IPFW.
  • Stanford was picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches’ poll after ending the 2015 season with a 10-18 overall record, missing the postseason for the first time under 10th-year head coach John Kosty.
  • BYU is 30-20 overall against the Cardinal all-time, including a 15-6 record when playing at the Smith Fieldhouse.
  • Stanford won both matches in four sets last season in Palo Alto.
