PROVO, Utah – BYU men's volleyball has signed two new recruits - Shane Holdaway and Wil Stanley - BYU head coach Shawn Olmstead announced Thursday.

"We are excited about the addition of Wil and Shane," Olmstead said. "Both are great volleyball players with outstanding character. These two athletes, along with the returned missionaries, will be valuable contributors to BYU volleyball."

Holdaway, a senior from Huntington Beach, Calif., plays middle blocker.

"Shane has shown some great potential and growth in his short time playing volleyball," Olmstead said. "He loves to learn and compete and that will help him while here at BYU."

During his time at high school, Holdaway has helped lead his team to the national championship title in each of the past two years, including winning 104-straight matches - a school record. Holdaway has also played club volleyball for the HBC, most recently collecting silver at the 18 Open in 2015.

Stanley comes to the Cougars from Honolulu, Hawai'i, and Punahou School.

"Wil is from a strong volleyball family which has nourished his love for the sport," Olmstead said. "His dad is a BYU graduate, and he's excited to follow that path set by his father."

Most recently, Stanley led his team as a setter/outside hitter combo to consecutive Punahou Varsity Division I state and ILH championships from 2013-15. Additionally, he has participated in several club teams - most recently taking first place in the 2015 Hawai'i Elite Southside 18s open. Stanley has also placed first in several sand volleyball tournaments throughout his high school career.

The two recruits will help replace the seven seniors BYU loses at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
