BYU picked to finish sixth in the MPSF

PROVO, Utah–Mountain Pacific Sports Federation coaches selected BYU to finish sixth in the league in a poll released Thursday.

Last season the Cougars tied Pepperdine (No. 1 in the MPSF preseason poll this year) for the regular-season title with an 18-6 league record. BYU went on to win the MPSF tournament and get the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Ahead of BYU in the poll are UC Santa Barbara (2), USC (3), UCLA (4) and UC Irvine (5). The Cougars went 9-3 against the top-five teams in 2014.

BYU kicks off the season Jan. 9 against No. 9 Lewis in Stanford, California.
