Former Cougars help USA win gold

FLORENCE, Italy— Former BYU outside hitter Taylor Sander led the U. S. Men’s National Team to a 3-1 (31-29, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23) victory against top-ranked Brazil Sunday, earning the U. S.’s second World League title.

Former Cougar Russell Holmes was also a member of the gold-medal team, and former Cougar Mike Wall was an assistant coach.

Sander collected 24 points during the match, including 22 kills, earning him Most Valuable Player and Best Spiker honors.
