Men's volleyball releases 2014 schedule

PROVO, Utah—BYU men’s volleyball head coach Chris McGown released the 2014 schedule, which includes matchups with 11 of last season’s top-15 teams.

BYU will host 11 matches during the regular season. The Cougars preview the season with matchups against Canadian university Winnipeg in Provo Dec. 27 and 28. They launch the regular season with a road stint in Chicago, taking on Loyola Jan. 3 in the season opener followed by Lewis Jan. 4. BYU then returns to Provo to host Northridge and Long Beach.

The team ends January with a road trip to UC Irvine and UC San Diego, then a week at home with matches against Stanford and Pacific.

The Cougars will spend most of February in California, taking on Pepperdine, USC, Cal Baptist, Pacific and Stanford on the road. After five straight matches on the road, broken up with a bye week the second week of February, BYU welcomes USC and Pepperdine to the Fieldhouse Feb. 28 and March 1, respectively.

After visiting Long Beach and Cal State Northridge, the Cougars return to Provo for five straight home matches in March against UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Cal Baptist, UC Santa Barbara and UCLA.

BYU finishes off the regular season with a trip to Hawai’i April 4 and 5, then road matches against UC Santa Barbara and UCLA.

The Cougars finished last season No. 1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and No. 2 in the nation with a 26-5 record.
