Kawka and Cullimore compete in ITA All-American Tournament
TULSA, Okla. – BYU men’s tennis junior Patrick Kawka and sophomore Keaton Cullimore lost both matches in the ITA All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa campus this week.
“It was a great accomplishment to get here,” head coach Brad Pearce said. “I hope they’ll learn from this experience, analyze where they need to improve as a team and work even harder to improve through the end of the season.”
Monday, Kawka played in the singles first qualifying round and fell to Shane Vinsant from Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-3. On Tuesday, Kawka and Cullimore fell short in the doubles first qualifying round against Tin Ostojic and Erick Reyes from Wichita State, 8-5.
In order to participate in the ITA All-American Championships, each player has to be the best in his respective region or be ranked nationally.
Next week, the Cougars travel to the University of Utah to play in the Utah Tennis Invitational Oct. 11-13.
