PROVO -- BYU junior Georgy Batrakov gained his third Mountain West Conference Player of the Week award Wednesday for his weekend victories against opponents from No. 46 Indiana and No. 52 San Diego State.

Batrakov, a native of Yaroslavl, Russia, helped the No. 43 BYU men’s tennis team to a 4-0 win against San Diego State by defeating Aztec Tim Schulz van Endert in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 Saturday. With teammate Daniel Hwang, Batrakov helped grab the doubles point for BYU against the Aztecs.

Despite the Cougars’ loss to Indiana, Batrakov recorded a strong win against Claes Goransson 7-6, 6-4 in singles Friday.

After going 32-7 in singles in 2010—the highest number of wins for any Cougar last season—Batrakov is 5-3 so far and 3-2 in doubles with Hwang.
