Cougars fall in national tournament
NEW -- It was a rough morning for BYU men’s tennis at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, with Mountain Region doubles champions Thomas Shubert and Spencer Smith falling in the Round of 16.
Senior Shubert and Smith, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, went up against Rafael Array and Mikk Irdoja of Armstrong Atlantic State. The Cougar duo lost 8-4.
The Cougars will compete in the doubles consolation rounds, which begin Friday. The pair will compete against Columbia’s Nathaniel Gery and Kevin Kung at 10:30 a.m. at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
