PROVO -- For the third consecutive year, the No. 64 BYU men’s tennis team will open its season against Weber State and Utah State in a doubleheader Friday.

The Cougars will be hitting the court for the first time since November, when the squad faced challengers from the University of Hawaii in a round-robin tournament where BYU amassed 27 wins out of a possible 32 over three days.

During the fall tournament season, members of the BYU team played opponents from Weber State and Utah State at the Utah Intercollegiates and the Mountain Region Championship. Cougars went a perfect 9-0 against WSU and 7-1 against USU in singles throughout the fall.

History favors the home team as BYU owns a 49-3 record versus the Wildcats and an even more impressive 46-0 record versus the Aggies.

Both matches will be played at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts, located east of South Field. The contest against Weber State begins at noon and play versus Utah State follows at 5: 30 p.m.

Pizza and prizes will be available for fans at the matches. All BYU “Y Lot” parking lots are open to the public after 4 p.m. Friday.
