PROVO -- The No. 64 BYU men’s tennis team will begin the fall tournament season this weekend by hosting the annual Utah Fall Tennis Classic. The three-day tournament will feature returning and former players as well as new freshmen Ricardo Campos and Spencer Smith.

Cougars will compete against local players and regional opponents including those from Utah, Utah State and Boise State. BYU will look to keep the single’s title at home for the third consecutive year after junior Thomas Shubert was crowned last year and head coach Brad Pearce took the championship the year before.

Play begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts. The courts are located south of the soccer stadium with the entrance on the east side. Admission is free and the tournament is open to the public.

All BYU “Y Lot” parking lots are available for public parking after 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and all lots are open Saturday.

The United States Tennis Association sanctions this tournament. Any participating college players are performing as individuals and do not represent their schools. Results will not impact Intercollegiate Tennis Association or NCAA rankings.
