PROVO -- The BYU men's tennis team will head to warmer weather this week as it travels to the So Cal Intercollegiate Championship in Los Angeles. Past tournament champions include Arthur Ashe, Stan Smith, Brad Gilbert and BYU's current head coach Brad Pearce.

Five Cougars will begin competition tomorrow in the qualifying singles draw, including sophomore Cassidy Mears and freshman Daniel Hwang.

After competing at this tournament in 2005, the Cougars were recognized by the So Cal Tennis Association as the Long Ellis Award Recipients for Sportsmanship and Achievement, an award voted on by a committee following the tournament.

Qualifying singles matches will begin on Wednesday with main singles and doubles starting on Thursday. Results for the tournament can be found at http://tennislink.usta.com/tournaments/TournamentHome/Tournament.aspx?T=55318.
