Nationally Ranked Cougars in Action This Weekend

PROVO -- The No. 32 BYU women's and No. 62 men's tennis teams will try to extend their respective winning streaks this weekend as the women host No. 43 Colorado at 5 p.m. on Friday and the men head to the Corpus Christi Invitational in Texas.

The women's team has won its last four matches, three of which have been against nationally ranked teams. Colorado is the ninth nationally ranked team in 11 matches that the Cougars have faced this year. The wins have come despite injuries to junior Jenny Miccoli and senior Sofia Holden.

"We seem to be fighting through some difficult challenges," BYU head women's coach Craig Manning said. "Hopefully we can get some more momentum swinging this way after this match against a tough Colorado team."

The men are on a three-match win streak, the last win coming against No. 60 Denver in Provo last weekend. The Corpus Christi Invitational is a six-team tournament in which the Cougars are guaranteed three matches in two days.

"We like this tournament because it gives us an opportunity to compete against higher ranked teams and teams we don't normally get to see," BYU head men's coach Brad Pearce said. "Our mentality is that every team is capable of beating us and we're fighting for our last meal."

Admission to the women's match on Friday is free and BYU "Y Lot" parking is open to the public after 4 p.m.
