PROVO -- In a crowd pleasing final draw, BYU senior Nyman gave a dominating performance in the BYU Invitational by defeating Matias Silva of Boise State, 6-1, 6-2 winning the men's singles draw.

The BYU men's tennis team dominated the doubles circuit at the BYU Invitational this week led by Nyman and Richard Dasek, until falling to in-state rivals Roeland Brateanu and Miron Mann of Utah in the doubles final draw 7-9.

In a grueling semifinal battle BYU's doubles team Erik Nyman and Richard Dasek defeated fellow teammates Jose Lechuga and Nima Roshan 9-7, before advancing to the final doubles draw on Saturday.

Until the tough loss in doubles, BYU Senior Nyman saw no losses as he swept past opponents from Montana State, Utah and Boise State.

Despite the few Cougar losses, BYU head coach Brad Pearce was please at the strength and effort his team showed through every match.

"We had a few disappointing losses early on, but we pulled together and played well as a team in doubles," BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. "There were a lot of grueling matches, especially when they had to play each other."

On the first day of play, all four BYU doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals match.

"Our doubles teams played extremely well together," Pearce said. "None of them were easy wins. They had to fight for every point."

The Cougars will test their strength on the road next week as they travel to Laguna Niguel, Calif. for a six-day pro tournament
