BYU Men's Tennis Team To Host Invitational
PROVO -- The BYU men's tennis team opens its season this week as it hosts the BYU Invitational beginning Thursday and run through Saturday.
The Invitational will include players from Boise State, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, Montana State and BYU.
The invitational will feature both a singles and doubles main draw with consolation brackets for those who get beat. Each player involved is assured to play at least two matches, and BYU head coach Brad Pearce said the team is ready to play and this tournament will be a great way to open the season.
"We just want to go out and play good solid tennis," Pearce said. "I'd like to have a bit more time to practice, this early in the season, but I feel we will do very well. "
Pearce said his team is very disciplined and ready to play.
"If they each play solid enough to not beat themselves, we will see some great matches," he said. "I'm excited to get things going."
Matches will be played on BYU's outdoor courts starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday and running through Saturday. In case of inclement weather, matches will be moved to the indoor courts.
