Cal Proves To Be Too Much

BERKELEY -- The No. 59 BYU men's tennis team was unable to handle No. 5 Cal-Berkeley on Monday, losing to the Bears 7-0. The loss drops the Cougars to a 7-4 record on the season, while Cal improved to 12-1 on the season.

The Bears started the match off strong, winning the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. The Cougars lone victory in doubles came at the No. 1 spot when tenth-ranked Carlos Lozano and Erik Nyman defeated Steve Berke and John Paul Fruttero 8-6.

In singles, Nyman won the first set 6-2 at the No. 1 spot against 38th ranked Conor Niland before dropping the second and third sets. 1-6 and 1-0. Nyman was the only Cougar to win a set against Cal in singles.

The Cougars continue their tough road trip on Wednesday when they face No. 8 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.
