Cougars Sweep Northern Arizona 7-0
The BYU men's tennis team sweeped Northern Arizona 7-0 on Saturday in Tucson, Ariz. without losing a single set to the Lumberjacks in singles or doubles.
After a disappointing loss to Oregon last week , the Cougars went to Arizona with something to prove and they did so in a big way.
The Cougars first captured the doubles point by winning at all three doubles positions. No. 7 ranked Carlos Lozano and Erik Nyman defeated Daniel Lundstrom and Fancisco Lando 8-2 at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 2 position, Jose Lechuga and Anton Rudjuk beat Fredrik Jeppsson and Thibault Schram 8-6. Jeff Olsen and Alonso Medina completed the doubles sweep by defeating Ronson Taylor and James Heck 8-1 at the No. 3 spot.
The Cougars were equally dominate in singles, winning at all six positions. Erik Nyman beat Fredrik Jeppsson 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. Nationally ranked Carlos Lozano took care of Thibault Schram 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 position. The rest of the lineup was able to win without dropping a single set to NAU.
The Cougars will play again on Saturday, Feb. 8 when they take on the No. 48 ranked Wildcats of Arizona.
