Lozano and Nyman Dominate in Invitational

PROVO -- Teammates Carlos Lozano and Eric Nyman of BYU dominated the BYU Invitational this week with both of them reaching the finals in both singles and doubles.

Lozano won the single's main draw final Saturday afternoon by defeating Nyman in a tough three-set match that ended 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-3.

The two Cougars teamed up to win the doubles final by beating Roland Brateanu andTomasz Grzyb of Utah 8-5.

BYU's head coach Jim Osborne was obvioulsy pleased with the tournament's results and the play of his team over the weekend.

"We did great," he said. "To win in both the singles and the doubles, you can't do much better than that. I think we are further along this year than we were at the same time last year."

Osborne accredits his seniors with the early success and hopes things continue.

"We still have some work to go, but I am pleased with how things are going thus far," he said.

Next week, Lozano and Nyman look to continue their successful fall season by traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn. to participate in the All-American Championships.
