Ward Advances To Fifth Round Of ITA Regional Tournament

LAS -- In a come-from-behind win, BYU senior Damien Ward defeated Wesley Moodie of Boise State, 5-7, 7-6 (11), 6-4, in the fourth round of the ITA Regional Tournament Friday morning hosted by UNLV.

With the win Ward, the eighth seed in the tournament, will face unseeded Matt Bere of San Diego State Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Bere earned the matchup by beating Gregor Skorin of UNLV, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4.

BYU sophomore Gert Vilms was eliminated from the tournament after losing to the fourth seed, Nic Dubey of New Mexico. Vilms won the first game 7-6, but lost the next two games to lose the match 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4. Dubey advances to play fifth-seeded Marc Legris of New Mexico State.

The tournament will continue through Sunday.
