BYU advances four singles players in first day of Invitational

PROVO, Utah (Oct. 4, 2000) -- On the first day of the Men's BYU Invitational tennis tournament, the BYU doubles team of Carlos Lozano and Gert Vilmes advanced to the semifinal round by defeating Ryan O'Neill/Eric Goldstein of Montana, 8-0, in the first round and Clayton Thomas/Andy Madersbacher of Utah State, 8-3, in the second round. In singles, BYU players, Gert Vilmes, Anton Rudjuk, Carlos Lozano and Michael Gysens all advanced to the quarterfinals by winning in the first round. The tournament includes Weber State, Utah State, Montana, Utah and Boise State, and will end on Saturday.
