BYU Takes Both Singles and Doubles at BYU Invitational

PROVO, Utah (Oct. 7, 2000) -- In the final day of action at the BYU Invitational, the Cougars took both the singles tournament and the doubles tournament on Saturday afternoon. Gert Vilms defeatedGuillaume Bouvier of Boise State, 5-6, 6-5, 6-4 to win his bracket and move on to face the other winner, Mark Roberts, also from Boise State for the championship. Vilms, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, defeated Roberts in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to win singles. In doubles, No. 1 seed Vilms and Carlos Lozano defeated No. 2 seed Bouvier and Roberts, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon to win the tournament.
