Cougars Get Third Straight Shutout

PROVO -- The BYU men's tennis team defeated the Universtiy of Idaho, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. The victory is the third straight 7-0 victory for the Cougars.

The Cougars, 3-4 on the season, won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, including an 8-0 win by Carlos Lozano and Gert Vilms over Idaho's Amod Wakalkar and Brock Berry.

"It was a good team effort," said BYU coach Jim Osborne. "All eight players were able to contribute in the match today."

In singles, Vilms played in the No. 1 spot and defeated Eddie Brisbois, 7-6 (2), 6-3. Michael Geysens played the No. 3 spot, winning 6-0. 6-3, and Matt Stohl played at the No. 4 spot, winning 6-1, 6-1.

The Cougars will have a week off before they are in action again against Montana State in Provo on March 3 at 2 p.m.
