Cougars Edge Southern Miss In Boise, 4-3

BOISE -- Splitting the singles matches with three wins each, the BYU men's tennis team took the doubles point to defeat Southern Mississippi, 4-3, on Friday night at Boise State.

BYU's Gert Vilms won at the No. 1 spot, defeating Miikka Kangas, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Both Jeff Harbach and Eric Nyman won at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in straight sets. Harbach defeated Uwe Gneiting, 7-6, 6-2, and Nyman defeated Mathias Werren, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles, Vilms and Lozano defeated Kangas and Homedes, 8-3. Harbach and Olsen also won, 8-5. BYU will play again in Boise on Saturday against Drake University at 2 p.m.
