Netters Win Doubles But Lose At Boise, 4-3

PROVO -- In the first match of a two-match road swing in Boise, the BYU men's tennis team lost to Boise State, 4-3, on Friday evening in Boise. The loss drops the Cougars to 11-9 overall, 2-3 in the conference.

BYU took the doubles point to start the match by winning at the No. 1 and 3 spots. Carlos Lozano and Gert Vilms defeated Marcus Bernston and Mark Roberts, 8-6 in the top spot. Eric Nyman and Matt Stohl defeated Jonny Biorkman and Mark Edney, 8-3.

In singles, the Cougars lost four of six to lose the match. After sitting out on Wednesday, Vilms won his match at the two spot by defeating Bernston, 6-4, 7-5. Lozano played at the No. 1 spot, losing to Guillame Bouvier, 6-4, 7-5.

Jeff Harbach was the other Cougar victor in singles. He defeated Boise State's Biorkman at the No. 6 spot, 8-3.

The Cougars play again on Saturday when they take on Fresno State at 4 p.m. in Boise.
