Tennis Teams Head To Conference Tournaments
Women's Tennis
With a strong perfomance to end the season and climb to No. 30 in the national rankings, the BYU women's tennis team will head to Colorado State to compete in the Mountain West Conference Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Cougars, 12-8 overall, 7-0 in the conference, won the regular season title with a 7-0 win over Wyoming on April 13.
Jodi Richardson is the No. 1 player for the Cougars. She is ranked No. 46 nationally and has played the top spot for BYU most of the year.
Also, Brooke Ferney, Dominique Reynolds and Lu Oswald have all played strong for the Cougars.
The winner of the conference tournament will automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
Men's Tennis
After ending the regular season two weeks ago with a loss at Boise State, the BYU men's tennis team will head to Salt Lake City to compete in the Mountain West Conference Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Cougars, 11-9 overall, 2-3 conference, are led by Gert Vilms and Carlos Lozano. The two have traded spots at the No. 1 position all year, hold a 22-6 record in doubles and are ranked No. 34 in the country.
In conference play, the Cougars defeated Utah and Air Force, but lost to UNLV and New Mexico in close matches, 4-3 and to San Diego State, 5-2.
The winner of the tournament will automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament on May 11-12 and 18-29.
