BYU to open season at home against Idaho State

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s tennis will begin the 2023 season this Friday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. MST versus Idaho State. The Cougars return six players from last season and will also feature three new roster additions.

The match will be played at BYU’s indoor tennis courts. Attendance is free. A live stream can be found HERE.

BYU Notes

  • The Cougars went 8-13 last season, including 4-4 at home.
  • After suffering season-ending injuries last year, Brigham Andrus, Jack Barnett and Zach Fuchs are all expected to play this season.
  • Head coach Dave Porter is 1,432-207 all-time and 22-19 at BYU ahead of his third season. He is assisted by Rong Ma, who is in his second season.

Idaho State Notes

  • The Bengals went 12-12 last season, including 3-9 on the road.
  • Eight of Idaho State’s nine players are from outside the United States.
  • Oliver Good is set to begin his first season as a collegiate head coach.
