BYU to host Idaho and Portland

PROVO, Utah — Back at home this week, BYU men’s tennis will host Idaho State on Wednesday, March 16 at 5 p.m. MDT. In their first conference match of the season, the Cougars will also host the Portland Pilots on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. MDT.

BYU Notes: (4-5)

  • The Cougars are 4-5 this season after two away losses against UC Santa Barbara (4-0) and Cal Poly (4-0)
  • BYU came out with two on the road wins against University of Nevada (4-3) and UC Davis (4-1) 
  • The Cougars lost to Boise State in a close 4-3 match and to New Mexico (3-2)
  • BYU came out on top of the Weber State Wildcats and Grand Canyon Antelopes, winning both matches by a score of 6-1
  • BYU kicked off its 2021-22 season at the Hawai’i Invitational on Jan. 6-8. The Cougars were 8-1 in doubles and 9-12 in singles for an overall record of 17 wins and 13 losses.

  • The Vandals have also taken losses from Nevada (3-7), Utah State (1-6), Washington (1-6), Air Force (3-4) and Gonzaga (1-6)
  • BYU leads the series against Idaho 7-0

  • The Pilots are 3-5 this season after sweeping Eastern Washington last weekend (7-0) and losing to University of Oregon (2-4)
  • Portland has also taken losses from TCA (0-4), Wichita State (1-4), San Diego State (3-4) and USC (3-4)
  • The Pilots also came out on top of Portland State (7-0) and Montana State (6-1)
  • BYU leads the series against Portland 10-2
