Cougars to Face Wildcats for Second Time

PROVO, Utah — BYU men's tennis is set to host Weber State for the second time this season. The match will be held at 5 p.m. MST on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. 

In the first match with the Wildcats (2-3), the Cougars (3-3) won 6-1. The Jan. 23 matchup was the second of the season for BYU and the season opener for Weber State. Since that match, Wildcats have gone 2-2, with wins against Montana and New Mexico State, and losses at UNLV and Utah State. Weber State also had a match against UC Riverside canceled. 

The Cougars improved to 3-3 on the season with a 7-0 sweep over Idaho State last weekend. Ben Gajardo and Sean Hill each earned their fifth singles win of the season in the win over the Bengals. New doubles lineups were also used for the first time all season. The pairings of Ben Gajardo and Matheus Ferreira Leite, and Sean Hill and Sam Tullis were victorious, while the pairing of Jack Barnett and Mateo Vereau Melendez fell in their first match as a doubles pair.
