PROVO, Utah – The BYU men’s tennis team announced the complete 2019-20 schedule that also includes the fall tournaments the players will participate in.

“We had a great foreign trip which kind of started the season for us,” BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. “As we head into the fall season, it’s all about getting back into shape and honing our skills in individual tournament play to be ready for the dual-match season in January.”

2019-2020 Schedule

BYU will begin its fall tournament season by traveling to Arizona to participate in the Wildcat Invitational Sept. 20-21. BYU players will also be able to showcase their skills at the Air Force Invitational, ITA All American, ITA Regional Championships, Jack Kramer Invitational, ITA National Fall Championships and the Southern California Intercollegiate.

BYU’s regular season begins with five away matches in the month of January, three of which are against Top 50 teams, No. 11 UCLA, No. 41 Harvard and No. 39 Minnesota.

The Cougars’ home opener is a doubleheader where they will host East Tennessee State and Weber State. Following those matches, BYU hits the road for two weeks before returning home to face Southern Utah University, Utah State University and Idaho State.

BYU plays Denver, Cal Poly and No. 42 Utah on the road before beginning West Coast Conference play in March and April.

To kick off the WCC matches, the Cougars will travel to St. Mary's and Pacific. BYU then hosts Portland and Gonzaga at home before playing on the road for three matches against No. 25 San Diego, Santa Clara and San Francisco. The Cougars close out their conference and regular season play with home matches against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.

“We have a very tough away schedule this year, which we’re excited about,” Pearce said. “In addition, one of our major goals is to have a stronger finish at the end of the season that launches us into the NCAA tournament. These are the things we’re focused on right now.”

The Cougars will travel to Claremont, Calif., to participate in the West Coast Conference Championships April 23-25. BYU will be looking to clinch the conference title and receive an automatic invite to the NCAA tournament.
