PROVO, Utah— BYU sophomore Sean Hill fell to Wayne Montgomery of Georgia 6-4, 7-6(8) in the first round of singles consolation play at the ITA Fall National Championships in Indian Wells, California.

"It was a great opportunity for Sean this week," BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. "He had some great practice matches with top players and was competitive in match-play with two top 20 players. Sean is right there at the national level, but he just needs more experience. We’ve identified some things he needs to work on, which he will. I'm looking forward to getting out on the practice court with him next week."

Hill competed against the top collegiate players in the country this week and is the first BYU player to represent the Mountain Region at the ITA National Championships in singles.

With the individual preseason play ending, BYU men’s tennis will return to competition in January.
