BYU men's tennis announces fall events
PROVO, Utah — The BYU men’s tennis team announced fall tournaments and events, along with the 2017-2018 schedule.
“We have a great schedule this year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled,” head coach Brad Pearce said. “It’s exciting that we are hosting our first-ever regional tournament with the two finalists having the opportunity to represent our region in the fall championship.”
The Fall Classic
BYU will host The Fall Classic Sept. 22-23. This is a lead-up tournament to the regular season where players can show what they’ve been working on all summer.
USTA/ITA Regional Championship
For the first time, the Cougars will host the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional Championship Oct. 18-21. This is the biggest fall tournament with finalists advancing to the Fall National Championship in Indian Wells, California. The tournament will be a 128-player draw consisting of all 18 teams in the region.
Cougar Racqueteer Day
The annual Racqueteer Day will be held Sept. 16 from 8-10 a.m. Local community members will be paired with a BYU tennis player for round-robin play and can better get to know the team.
The team has a lot of players home from missions, as well as a couple transfer students. All of them have been working hard for the upcoming season.
