PROVO, Utah -- Three BYU men's tennis players will travel to Los Angeles to compete in the 60th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships held at USC’s Marks Stadium Oct. 27-29.

Senior Aidan Carrazedo, sophomore JD Malan and freshman Sam Tullis will represent the Cougars.

“The value of these tournaments is seeing where the guys are and how they play in an actual pressure situation,” BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. “We’d like to see some improvement in this upcoming tournament. They are a good bunch of guys, and they are all positive. They all want to improve, and they’ve been working hard.”

The Cougars will compete against opponents from various schools including Cal Poly, UC San Diego, Concordia, Hawai'i, UC Santa Barbara, USC, UCLA, Texas Tech, LMU and Pepperdine.

In the first round of the singles qualifying draw, Tullis will face conference foe Alexander Bourgeois (LMU) on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by Malan who will compete against Hawaii’s Spencer Travallino at 12:30 p.m. Carrazedo will receive a bye into the round of 32 and play at 3:30 p.m.

Doubles duo Carrazedo and Tullis will play their first match on Friday at 4 p.m after receiving a bye into the round of 16.

A complete list of tournament draws can be found on the USTA tournament website. Results will be updated daily.
