Canales, Pearce named ITA Scholar-Athletes
PROVO, Utah -- Continuing BYU men's tennis postseason academic honors, junior Juan Canales and sophomore John Pearce were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes for the 2015-16 school year.
Canales posted a 1-4 singles record and a 2-3 record in doubles on the season while Pearce earned a 12-9 singles record and went 16-5 in doubles. Both student-athletes were also named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll for their outstanding academic achievements. Canales received silver honors while Pearce received gold honors.
To be honored as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must be a varisty letter winner and have a current GPA of at least 3.50 after being enrolled for at least two semesters. This is the second ITA Scholar-Athlete award for both players.
