PROVO, Utah—After opening its 2016 season with only one loss, the No. 58 BYU men’s tennis team opens West Coast Conference play this weekend in Provo.

BYU (9-1) will host No. 72 Portland on Friday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. MST. and Gonzaga Saturday, Feb. 27th at 2:00 p.m. MST. The Cougars are 5-0 at home so far this season.

“Coming off a win against an important regional rivalry is good for us,” BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. “We’re moving on now to another goal we’ve set, which is to win the WCC championship this year. Portland and Gonzaga are both good teams and we’ll work hard to prepare for them. We won’t take them lightly.”

The Cougars are coming off a 5-2 victory over the University of Utah.

Portland (5-3, 1-0 WCC) defeated No. 73 Fresno State Sunday afternoon, 5-2. The Pilots have nine underclassmen out of their 11 players on the team.

Gonzaga (2-5, 0-2 WCC) lost 2-5 this weekend at home to Portland State. The Bulldogs have a roster of seven players, with three upperclassmen and four underclassmen.
