BYU picked to finish seventh in 2016 WCC preseason standings
SAN BRUNO, Calif.--The BYU men's tennis team has been selected to finish seventh in the upcoming 2016 West Coast Conference season.
The University of San Diego was chosen unanimously out of the 10-team conference to win the WCC this season. The Toreros captured the title last year and currently have the No. 34 and No. 35 nationally ranked singles players.
Pepperdine was chosen to finish second, followed by Pacific. Loyola Marymount and San Francisco round out the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Portland, BYU, Santa Clara, Gonzaga and Saint Mary's make up the bottom half of the conference.
The Cougars defeated Saint Mary's in the first round of the WCC tournament in 2015 before falling to Pepperdine in the quarterfinals. They return six players from last year's team.
BYU will play its first WCC match at home against Portland on February 26 at 5:30 pm. MST. They will face Gonzaga the next day at 2:00 p.m. MST in another WCC matchup.
